The Ophthalmology Section of the NMA is proud to announce the NMA/Roger Martin Glaucoma Screening Initiative. This allows NMA physicians to receive direct assistance from Roger W. Many times as physicians we are asked to help with glaucoma screenings and screening for diseases of the eye in the community. This program facilitates this in the following manner:
How It Works
Location and identifying your target population is the single most important aspect of a successful glaucoma screening. Health Fairs, Church events, community functions and African American organizations events are just a few venues that are inexpensive to cost free ways to establish your presence in the community and make a significant humanitarian contribution at the same time.
You’re Staff
The Day of the screening Roger Martin will work along side you and a staff of volunteers to insure that the glaucoma screening is the highest quality and that all in attendance are treated with kindness and dignity as they would be in your office. Church organizations and service groups can provide volunteers to help with registration of patients, acuity and running of the FDT’s (field of vision analyzers). It is up to your office and community group to establish these connections.
Screening Protocol
